Spectrum Test Practice, Grade 3

We bought this to work with our child during summer break. Kids tend to loose the curriculum they learn during the summer, and we assign them/work with them a couple pages a day, and it has worked wonderfully. Our children were essentially able to master the next grade years curriculum by the start of the new school year. This brand of books seems to match school textbooks/curriculum as close as possible from all the different brands of books we have purchased. They are well written and follow a natural progression of the subjects, building from the beginning of the school year, advancing to more advanced subject at the end of the grade level. We have made it a tradition to buy the next grade level books every summer, resulting in being more than prepared for class at the start of the year. They also are great for enrichment during the school year on subjects that the student needs a little extra help with. We buy every year.

We are a homeschool family and don't teach common core. In our state we are required to take the standardized tests every other year. This has been very helpful to get my 3rd grader used to the style of the test he will be taking in a couple months. Any gaps I have found in his learning because of this test prep have allowed me to add in and teach him things he wouldn't otherwise know. I'm very please with this book and highly recommend it.

I really really am enjoying using this book to practice with my 3rd grader. Each lesson is great and right on par with our state standards. The pages rip out of the book so easily (if you want) and all the answers are right in the very back. I will defenitley be ordering more books from this company!

Used this books a little everyday before testing and it really helped grasp the concept of the test. Definitely recommend!

Not only do the the test questions and answer key have errors, which is confusing and disruptive when correcting your child's work, but I found many of the questions to be inappropriate for a 3rd grader. The test questions use phrasing and formatting that are unnecessarily complicated. Instead of straightforward questions, intended to test my child's language arts and math comprehension, it seems as though these tests are riddled with errors and "trick" questions that most 3rd graders, let alone many adults would find very difficult to answer correctly. I recognize that most of my beef is with the common core and standardized testing, not specifically with Spectrum, so I did rate this book at 4 stars because it did help prepare my homeschooled child and I what to expect for her upcoming 3rd grade standardized tests.
