Philips PerfectCare Compact Steam Generator Iron with 400g steam Boost, 2400 W, Blue & White - GC7840/26

I have quite a number of Phillips products and l have got to say they have never disappointed this Steam Generator Iron is no exception it is Light and very easy to handle it sits comfortably on my worktop again making it easy to use on my ironing board l use a small jug to fill the large tank once done allows Plenty ironing before requiring to be refilled The Steam output is brilliant but the added bonus ( which l actually didn’t discover until using it a few times) when you press button to select on wait a few moments it bleeps to say ready to use but if you wish to choose for excessive steam ie. bedding or hard to iron items press the same button until light turns white and your ready to go! But most impressive is you can leave the iron flat down on the board won’t scorch (lm guilty of doing this and forever changing covers) also and this amazes me it automatically adjust to temperature of the material you are ironing no fiddling about with dials trying to choose a setting! when requires cleaning automatically bleeps to alert you it comes with a tray you sit your iron on top press to clean minutes later done and ready to go! storage is also great your cord feeds underneath the tank area & your wire wrap & ties neatly together overall would highly recommend truly deserves the 5 Stars

Brought this to replace my old steam generator iron. I was half the price of my old one. After using it for 2 weeks now I must say I am impressed. Easy to fill, front flap opens easily to fill using a jug. Heats quickly. Steam works fast and just keep depressed for blast of steam. Iron will only sit flat on it's base or ironing board. Will take a bit of getting used to, I keep trying to stand on it's end. I did see other reviews saying it was noisy, I don't think it is, there is a 'soft' noise that is I belive is the pressure for the steam.

Having used a competitor for a number of years with a much more powerful output which also has smart temperature control, I could not justify nearly £400 on an iron! So I opted for this Phillips perfect care and I have been pleasantly surprised at how much lighter and smaller it is against the previous iron and that’s the whole unit the actual iron plate is only a few mm smaller, after using for the first time gives as good a result than the more powerful one. Glides through creases, and I am happy with the results. The only negative is the cord does not wind automatically into the machine but it has a handy tie- can’t have everything I guess. Overall good iron for the money.

The media could not be loaded. REPAIR UPDATEFirst time i have ever had to use Amazon's repair service - and i am mightily impressed to say the least.Was issued with the return label and I took the iron to the post office afternoon of 15th August. It was delivered to the repairers on the 19th and i received a text saying it had been repaired and would be returned on the 20th August. Received the iron back in full working order on the 21st August. Now that is a service!! There was a works sheet in the box saying the hose was blocked and it had been replaced. Spent 2 hours ironing in the evening last night (21st) and the iron was back to its good old working order - just like my original review. Well impressed.UPDATEAugust 24 and the steam function stopped working. Have just sent it back for repair / replace so will see how this pans out. Will update review again when i get either a repaired or new iron. I will be able to review the repairs process as i have never had to use this facility before.I am impressed with the lightweight feel of the whole iron and tank, and the lockable feature for when moving about with it. I burnt myself a couple of times with my previous iron when it fell of the base when i was putting it away. The electrical lead could be a bit longer, but the hose is more than long enough. Also like the clear reservoir and large snout for filling it. Its very easy to use, i've just got to get used to how it feels as its different to what i've been used to for the last 5 years or so. Maybe its because i've only used it a couple of times, but it just feels like there is a lag between pressing for the steam and it actually coming through. Same for the turbo boost. I will have to update my review after a months use to see how i am getting on with it. But have just done 1/2 dozen work shirts and a load of t-shirts and trousers, all in good time and with no issues.

This was an okay iron. You have to use it in a different way as there is a significant delay before the steam comes through. Takes some getting used to but you can work around it. The auto temp thing is good as you can leave it and it won't burn. Great for a bowl of mixed fabrics. What isn't so great is that it died completely after two years and 11 days of ownership. Clicking the steam button produced no steam and just resulted in a struggling mechanical noise. Did all the usual troubleshooting and then threw it in the bin. If it had lasted three years then the price is okay but not cheap enough for such a limited lifespan.

This is superb.Having had my old steam iron unit start leaking but after many years 6 or more it was time to replace.Went on reviews and it lived up to them. So pleased and used many times before posting.1. Light weight unit and iron plus so easy to fill.2. Holds a lot of water3. You don’t change a temperature it does it all for you and adapts to what you’re ironing. To date no burns from cotton to work out leggings. Excellent & so clever.4. Steam boost excellent for bedding etc…5. Effortless ironing.6. Super easy to descale - place on the descale plate, select a button and it does it all for youSo far I give this 10/10

I bought this iron 2 years ago and have found it to be a really good product. It stopped steaming days before the guarantee was up. I contacted Philips uk on their website and explained the symptoms and was immediately sent a code to return the item for free. The item was repaired and returned within 7 days and is in great condition. I will definitely be buying Philips products again. Brilliant customer service
