Our desk is super small and not enough room to put a textbook
Was in my Med/Surg class and the student nxt to me had this , I immediately ordered it right there in class. Our desk is super small and not enough room to put a textbook, pens, highlighters and a note book. This is a must!

Strong and portable
I needed a stand that was light, portable, and didnt take up too much space on my ikea desk. I usually have heavy textbooks and needed something to hold then up. I got this hoping it would do the trick and it did! Im really impressed this little thing is strong. Really happy with my purchase.

A must for law students!
A large part of law school is reading hundreds of pages of cases a week. With that much time spent looking down staring in books my neck was in poor shape. One of my friends recommended this stand and I will say it works very well. Simple to set up, big enough to store a case book (or any book other than a dictionary). Small and foldable it is easy to store in a book bag and take on the go.

A genuine life saver for reading time!
The real charm of this book stand is the way it levels to suit your needs and wants.By any means this stand does not skid due to the rubber pads at the bottom and I have used it for light weight and heavy weight books, even technological items as I do with my tablet. In my workstation its mostly for books or any paper based material and at times I do use it as a tablet stand (both at home or at work) and it works amazingly well. I also own a mini lamp that helps me read at night if I please and it has been a really good experience for me so far.To take it to work,I fold it up and it fits well in my bag next to my other heavy items.Since its metal,it durable for what its use for and the color does not seem to rust off so far due to my time using it so I would say it would last me a very long time.

Helps a reader with hand issues!
Having hand problems as well being an avid reader (yes, actual books with paper pages and hard covers) makes a challenge. This device really helps! With carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger fingers, osteoarthritis and small hands, all added to a chronic illness that has me fatigued so I'm lying down a lot, my favorite pastime of reading can actually hurt me! The lap trays are too bulky and inconvenient. What to do? And no, I like to read, not be read to (sorry Audible).Enter this little bookstand. This little device can sit on my abdomen holding my book while I am lying down propped up with a couple pillows and voila! My hands get a break while I read happily away. Adaptable, cheap, easy... What more do you need? Try it. For less than $10 it might just work for you too!

Great stand for small books!
I use this stand for small books and it works great. It's light-weight and sturdy. I was afraid it wouldn't adjust well to books of different sizes and thickness, but so far I have not been disappointed while using books both thick and thin. It adjusts itself somehow. If, however, you have a large, heavy book (like, binder-sized), then this is not the bookstand for you. But it works great for anything smaller than that.

One of my favorite helpmates
I did not buy this item. I found it many years ago at a swap shop. My granddaughter has entered college and asked whether I would recommend it. Absolutely!!! I use this bookstand daily. Before Covid, I took it when I went for a solo coffee shop or restaurant visit. I could read, leaving my hands free. Many, many times people would ask about it and I told them it was available on Amazon. It is lightweight, folds flat, and is rugged. I had mine so long and used it so much that a few years ago the plastic broke. No problem. I cut 2 pieces of tubing and repaired it. I would not be without it. My granddaughter is happy with hers too. It even holds her large, heavy textbooks

4 and a half stars
Its good and as described - smaller and cheaper than it looks but thats only because they don't really give scale in the pictures - the only issue is that for my unreasonably thick and large hardcover calculus textbook (1000ish pages) the stand can topple when opened to pages near the beginning and end (basically where there is too much weight on one side). When the weight balance becomes about 20-80%Now important part of that is - the textbook I was using is huge ( Seriously that textbook is of obnoxious dimensions but thats for another review) but I think mentioning a kind of reference to the max book size / pages/ weight recommended in the product description etc would be good.As I said its cheaper and smaller than it appears but still functions perfectly as a book stand and is reasonable for the price. It folds down easily so it doesn't take up space when not needed and for other normal sized textbooks and books it works fine.4 stars is a bit too low since its still fulfills its purpose but because of the weight issues that aren't mentioned I can't go straight 5.

Does the job
I bought this for use with a certain book I had that was paperback and fairly large. I was pleasantly surprised when the holder worked well. It does take some adjusting to get things to sit right but I can't agree with people complaining about this not working. It works as well as I was hoping. It's actually a great value and I doubt you'd need something bigger.NB: I would suggest not extending the back portion and leaving it as flat as possible because it'll leave the book much too upright and unstable, especially paperbacks. The lowest setting is perfectly fine.

Cannot hold textbooks, large books, or any books for that matter
I bought this for school. This was a mistake. I'm an MA student and am constantly reading different textbooks, journals, smaller library books, etc. The stand cannot hold any of them. It is flimsy and will either be incapable of holding a large book, or will hold a book - one that manages to fit - crooked. Smaller books will pull the device closed, ensuring that you cannot read words more towards the spine.Save your money.

A good metal book/tablet stand
It came much quicker than the estimates. Feels a bit flimsy, but does the job. Easy to clean if you use it in a kitchen.

Probably best for a
Searched for textbook stand and this was the result. I haven't even used it for my big textbook yet and it barely stays standing for my small one. Probably best for a magazine
