Works better then I expected
I have a 150 gallon tank, so I got 2 of these and filled the lower compartment with bio-filtration rocks. I have 11 small fish in the tank and over the last month the water has stayed clear. I like the fact that it uses less electricity, and I have less wires then the alternatives. It's pretty compact and the sponges are fairly large.I would recommend this .

Good filter
The sponges look a little uneven to me anyways, one is slightly taller than the other, and no matter how much I try to adjust it, it's a little off. But the difference is minimal, if you are getting a sponge filter you are choosing functionality over looks. And it works great. Inexpensive, and clever, it has a compartment for biomedia (which is NOT included) that you add yourself.I am surprised how quiet it is, much quieter than my HOB filters for sure. I love sponge filters, and am starting to replace all my HOB with them. Not only are they gentle for small fish and fry but they are also providing oxygen for your tank better than HOB filters acting as an air stone all in one.

Very well made all-in-one submersible filtration system for the aquarium
If you have a 10 gallon fish tank that is not overloaded with fish, this is a perfect filtration set up to have. You have the mechanical filtration in the form of the black sponges, then there are two compartments below the sponges where you can load up on a mix of zoolite and activated carbon as the biological media.Screw the top close, slide the sponges on top of the compartments, hook up the air line, and you are in business! Please don't forget to cycle the tank before you put any fish in if you are starting a new tank. You need to let the tank run for at least a week with this filter inside of it and place a feeder fish or two to accumulate some ammonia in the tank for a natural nitrite and nitrate conversions. If you already have a running tank and have a hanging filter, you definitely need this submersible set up to help with the tank's filtration. One advice though, you should use an air pump that is rated one stop higher than the current tank size that you have to run air through this submersible filter to have it filter the tank optimally. It is also a very quiet air bubbler which work as a potent all-in-one filtration system.

So far its better than the internal filters
I've been using internal filters and they lack severely... I'd modified them and that improved a bit. I found these filters being recommended by my favorite fish guy on YouTube and gave one a try. Now all my tanks use these. My shrimp love them. My bettas fins are safe. My triops climb them. Even the snails and crayfish...I used biomedia in the shrimp and charcoal for the south american tank. Both media work fantastic with these filters.

A MUST have for shrimp or fry tanks!!
I have multiple small shrimp tanks that constantly have baby shrimp and the pretty much the only filter out there that is safe for them is a sponge filter. I have had many different types, brands, sizes in my tanks for years but this one might be my new favorite. I usually pick these up on Ebay from international sellers because somehow they're cheaper. I decided to check Amazon just in case and what do you know-- actually cheaper than ebay! And possibly better and stronger quality? This filter is perfect size for my tank (I had narrow specs to work with) and the sponge surface area is plenty! Something that helps shrimp thrive-- they love grazing algae on the sponges. This only took a minute tops for me to assemble. I love that sponge filters now are incorporating a bio media chamber as well. The flow is fantastic and am very happy overall with my purchase. I may pick up another or two as a backup. Thanks for reading!

Best Sponge Filter System on the Market!!!
I'm currently converting my Angelfish/Discus hatchery from other square/round bottom type and corner filters to these. My municipal water supply while has a stable PH out of the tap at 7.2 the calcium hardness is extremely low. Even doing daily 50% water changes on over 200 tanks barely kept them above 6.4. Adding Aragonite to the cups has greatly improved my waters stability! My fish, plants and snails are all doing soo much better now it's unbelievable!!! All my tanks are crystal clear and very stable! I use one of these for every 15 to 30 gallons depending on my stocking rate needs but mostly for every 20 gallons. These filters are very easy to maintain, all I have to do is remove one filter sponge every 2 weeks and squeeze it in a small bucket of tank water. In my case I replenish the Aragonite when necessary which is about every 3-4 months to keep my PH and Calcium hardness stable.

Nice extra filtration for my tank
This was a lot bigger that I thought it would be. It mounts nicely on the side glass of my tank. It pushes plenty of water out and the bottom media holders make it just that much better.

good quality
very satisfied. however , the photos / description of product was very misleading in showing a filter media which gave the impression it was included in purchase which it wasn't.

Really good perfect for betta fish or fry
Really good filter I have bought this filter more than once. You can put ceramic rings or small bio balls it the green cannisters below the sponges. You need an air pump to use this filter.

Good quality.
Easy to use and nice slim foams. The stream creates a steady flow which is very bubbly when placed at the surface.I am using with a split output small pump and small thin air stone. The pores on the foam are small so of a closed structure. The water quality is very good with 6 danio, 1 live plant. The canisters I filled with Fluval Biomax. Used about half of a 170g box doing that.Very satisfied with this in my 25 litre tank.

Suprised how efficient these are
I had never seen one of these before and was a bit dubious and when it arrived I was a surprised because it was bigger than I thought but tried it anyway. It’s brilliant! I had a small colony of shrimp and they immediately moved into it and seem to love it. Tank water is crystal clear and well aerated. Cant believe that something so cheap can have such an effect on my tank. I would highly recommend anyone giving one of these a try. Easy to fit and maintain.

Excellent performance
i bought two of these hooked upto airvolution av4 double outlet, magnificent performance, i also extended the exhaust tubes on each so i can place filter on tank floor and i can extend exhaust to surface level so it has alot more suction power, im gonna buy another two of these and do away with my external filter theyre so good.
