The 2012 Ryder Cup: Official Film [DVD]

PURE THEATRE!!!!
One of sports greatest ever comebacks. The only other sporting event that comes close was Liverpool's amazing comeback against AC Milan in 2005 from 3-0 down. It really was Pure Theatre. This Fantastic DVD captures the highlights of all the drama as it unfolded. The early setbacks against the US going to 10-5 down before the comeback began. Their are so many moments to remember: the leadership of Olzabal, the roar of defiance from Poulter, the superb play of in form Mcilroy. Even Justin Rose's emotional victory tribute to the late Seve Ballersteros (who the team dedicated it to). In many ways this was Europe's Ryder Cup revenge for what the Americans had done back in '99. All in all, this is Must for any Golf fan. 5 stars.

European Glory - Ryder Cup 2012
Working abroad whilst the Ryder Cup 2012 was in progress meant that I did not get to see the golf, and only had the Sports News at the end of the day to let me know what was going on. It was obviously a fantastic sporting occasion and a great result for us Europeans. The DVD gives a detailed day by day, hole by hole and player by player bulletin of the match as it unfolded. It gave me not only the facts but also a good feel for the atmosphere with good commentary. I would recommend it for anyone who has not seen the match, or who just wants to revisit the incredible play on the last day.

Excellent memory of fabulous win
I don't seem to tire of watching this. I don't have Sky so I missed the live drama on TV (listened instead), but this keeps the emotions alive for me. Very well produced (which surprised me), it introduces the event really well, and then tells the story as it unfolded. It puts Poulter's astounding 5 birdies back into the timeline where we didn't feel it coming. The final day is, of course, the golf equivalent of 'Roy of the Rovers' stuff, and the dvd captures the real drama from Donald's inspiring start to Rose's phenomenal putt. Not overly sentimental, but just enough of Olly and Seve to raise a tear. Enjoyed this so much I got a cpoy for my Dad. Highly recommeded.

Excellent
Although the film of this classic event does not quite go into all of the detail a golf enthusiast would like, it never the less nails that feeling of competitive golf. Ian pouter's amazing drive and determination is completely captured, as is the passion from all of the players on both side of the great golfing divide. I have no hesitation in recommending this film to anyone who would wish to simply view it as the spectical it was or for those in the sporting arena who would use it as an example of one the most incredible comebacks in any sporting field.

Medinah, the dvd was a miracle as well
Making a dvd about a three day golf event is a difficult proposition. Clearly you can't just shorten the tv coverage. You need a voice over to explain the dynamics during those days, you need shots about the course and the fans to grasp the atmosphere. And when you do this about the most amazing Ryder cup in history, that is tricky stuff. The makers of ths DVD succeeded 100%. When watching the dvd it became exiting again, wanting to see the end to see who won!A must buy -really- for all golf fans, and a wonderful gift to a golf fan.

A sporting fix
I bought this DVD because I missed the TV coverage because I was abroad.I was following the day to day action on my iPad and couldn't believe what happened on the last day and half so had to see it.The production has its problems, the background music intrudes and there is too much of the opening ceremony and not enough action but I thoroughly enjoyed the DVD.Of course the Ryder Cup 2012 is now along time ago but it fitted perfectly into a year of superb sporting achievement.alan crompton

All the tension of the last day.
The two DVD'S capture all the highs and lows of the Ryder Cup and although there is a small amount of back-ground music once you get into the action on-screen it fades away and the golf becomes the most important thing. The Diary DVD is very good and if you watch that first and then the Ryder Cup DVD you feel as if it is all happening again in front of your eyes. Knowing how it will end does not detract from it and it is worth every penny to re-live it whenever you want.

Exciting event spoilt by added noise.
There is an exciting finish to this event, played with passion, with only a razor blade separating the teams in the final result. Excellent picture and well edited, but unfortunately the audio let's the overall product down. Struan Rodger's updating commentary (a good part of the total time) is irritatingly strangled with added racy music and pulsing percussion sounds, which are not in harmony with the game you are watching. It would have been far more enjoyable listening to the natural sounds of the course, the shot making and the spectators for the whole time.
