WOW!! Life Changing!!!
I hadn't read a book from start to finish in yearsssss! 10-15+ years! And as years progressed my memory worsened, I struggled with information retention, and kind of psyched myself out of reading, convincing myself that it's just not for me.But then something clicked inside, and I decided to look into personal development. One thing that kept reoccurring was reading & writing. So I decided to search for books that would help with this. A few books just kept getting mentioned, this book being 1 of them. So I ordered a few and decided to start with this one. Reason being, it was the shortest book and I felt as it if would be the easiest read. & WOW!! I had finished it in about 5 days. All these thoughts about reading not being for me, thinking I wouldn't be able to retain the information, thinking it would take me forever to finish a book, these thoughts were all in my head. And this book epitomises that.Long made short, if you're just getting into personal development, and haven't read any books for some time, this is a fantastic place to start. Trust me! Wishing you blessings and the best on your journey

Life changer. Bam!
Read this and you'll never look at life the same again. Your thoughts, your actions and most importantly, your attitude will change. It's really short, not much to say. It helped me in more ways than I ever thought a book of this size could..

Frustratingly badly edited and presented
I chose to read this book because I was profoundly impressed by the experience of tetraplegic Steven Webb, mayor of Truro, who credits it with changing his life when he was at rock bottom.Perhaps therefore my expectations were too high.James Allen, who died aged 47 in 1912, came from humble origins and rose to become a widely read author and philosopher. The book urges us to control our thoughts, lift them, so that we can become, and I quote, "more manly," and bettering ourselves and achieving serenity through self control and remedying our character defects. At its heart is the author's belief in God.Part of the reason I struggled with this book is because the editing is simply dire. Many sentences simply don't make sense which is extremely frustrating, even the cover has the misprint "selp-help" in very large text - no one has checked through this before printing which is shocking as it is probably currently enjoying a resurgence in sales. It needs stringent editing, and a proper Foreword, and some explanation as to how Allen's philosophy ("a man is literally what he thinks") ties in with modern meditation which strongly teaches "you are NOT your thoughts."It's a very short book but in the correct format could be pondered over many times.

Didn't understand!!!
Didn't understand at all. The language is so philosophical. It makes me bored of reading it, sorry for leaving a negative feedback.

It's a classic
Not to be read in a day like other books. You can literally spend weeks reflecting a page, let alone a chapter or the book. It's a classic.
