I've been using these for a while. One has nearly caused a fire. I was running a good bit through it, 1,240 watts, but that's only 66% of it's rated capacity. I believe the cause of this was the separation of the pin from the housing. It fused with the outlet it was plugged into and required a great deal of force to remove. It caused cosmetic damaged to the outlet (melted the outer plastic a bit) but not the device plugged into it. I bought these over 2 years ago and this specific one had been in service untouched for several months. That tells me they can fail at any time even if previously operating fine. My recommendation is to not buy these and if you are currently using them you should buy replacements immediately and discontinue use.

I recently purchased a new house. It somehow managed to slip by me that most of the outlets were only a two prong. So of course when I went to set up my computer and plug it in I learned of the problem. I was about to call an electrician when a friend told me about these conversions. So simple, just plug it into the two prong outlet and then you can plug a 3-prong directly into this item. It works exactly as described and my computer is now up and running. Most definitely and inexpensive way to avoid having your house rewired

I had this adapter plugged into the outlet while using a (low current) laptop computer.The plastic melted & turned brown. Poor quality. Poor construction. Poor design.Dangerous.

I'm glad I came back to check the other reviews. I'm not the only one who almost had a fire because of these. I'll be trying a different brand.

Have an old house with many 2-prong outlets. I've rewired some (that power items taking more juice), but for just basic lighting, these are perfect. Just plug into the 2-prong and wha-la - you know have a 3-prong. Err on the side of caution and not use for heating or high-juice appliances - but they are great for lighting.

These do not work, no matter what 3 prong you try to use they do not fit in correctly. Absolute crap

The ones I received do not fit any of my three prong plugs. When I try and plug in the appliance it goes I’m barely but won’t push in all the way. They will not let me return the item either so this is a full loss. So frustrating.

Do not recommend. Two of mine MELTED! I am glad I noticed because it could have been a dangerous situation. Look at my photo!
