Great value for the money.In all that follows, the Kaidaer should be powered ON to function, except when only charging the built-in battery, in which case it should be OFF with the Data/Charging Cable connected to a USB charging source.Mode Button----------------Three audio sources can be connected simultaneously but the active source is selected by cycling through the three alternatives using the MODE button. Each click cycles the Kaidaer through the following THREE states, in sequence:Use the internal FM RadioUse the Line-In sourceUse a USB source, as explained nextUSB Sources----------------There are three receiving slots clustered together:miniUSB slot (marked as `USB 5V')microSD slotfull size USB slotthe microSD slot is just above the full size USB slot and either can receive a memory stick/card that contains mp3 files (in their ROOT directories, NOT in a custom folder.) If a memory stick is inserted into the full size USB slot AND a card is inserted into the microSD slot, only the memory stick will be recognized. Therefore, conceptually, these two slots are regarded as a unit and either a memory stick/card is present, or not.In the same way, either the Data/Charging Cable is inserted and used to connect the Kaidear to a USB slot on the PC, or it is absent.A special condition arises when BOTH the Data/Charging Cable AND a memory stick/card is present. The PC will recognize the memory stick/card and offer to open a window in Windows Explorer where you can read or write the content of the memory stick/card.If the Data/Charging Cable is NOT connected, sound will be played from the memory stick/card if they are inserted and the Kaidaer will flash blue:Repeat Button: Will repeat the currently playing track/filePlay/Pause Button: As it says...Back/Vol- Button: Single Click: go to the previous track/file Click and Hold: decrease volume until releasedForward/Vol+ Button: Single Click : go to next track/file Click and Hold: increase volume until releasedLastly, if the Data/Charging Cable IS connected, and a memory stick/card is NOT inserted, the Kaidaer will now act as an alternative sound card with a speaker for the PC. On the PC, select `Control panel', then `Sound' and then select the `Playback' tab (or, right-click the speaker icon on the task bar and select `Playback devices'.) You'll see an entry for the Kaidaer described as an `USB Audio Device'. Rename it if you like and set it as the default sound device. To play audio from the PC, turn up the volume on the Kaidaer, and make sure the MODE Button is cycled to the USB source position.Line-in Source------------------Use the supplied double-ended 3.5mm plug to connect the line-in jack to any audio source with a corresponding 3.5mm headphone or line-out jack (Smartphone, PC, TV...) Connect and play a different audio source on the PC using the supplied Data/Charging Cable (no memory stick/card). This is the MODE Button's Radio position.Plug one end of anything with a 3.5mm plug into the ANTenna jack (the supplied cable with a 3.5mm plug at each end will do; so will any headphone cable; you van also buy a $2 antenna with a 3.5mm plug). Press Play/Pause. The Radio will begin to scan for available FM stations and store them for future tuning. You can stop the scan and select any station you hear during the scan by pressing Play/Pause while station is being heard.After scanning, the radio will begin to play first station found. To tune to other stations, press Forward button to select higher band stations found; press Back to select lower band stations.My Setup------------I have a TV and a Laptop on my desk. Line-in is connected to the TV's headphone jack. The Data/Charging Cable is connected to the Laptop. I use headphones. The Mode Button cycles me effortlessly through TV, Laptop, FM Radio.To hear the quality of the Kaedaer as soundcard, I plugged the Laptop's headphone jack into Line-in instead of the TV. Wow.BTW, I have a tin ear and the EQ button does nothing for me. It may be broken. It's supposed to cycle through normal, pop, rock, jazz, classic, country. But the rest works so well it doesn't seem worth the bother to return it.

This is the second mini speaker that I ordered. I ordered this for my nephew because he saw mine and wanted one just like it. Mine is perfect. It does all that it says it would do. Plays loudly, worked with my ipod, plays music (sd card) etc. This second one .....omg....it didnt come with the instruction booklet and when we tried to use my ipod with it it didnt work.....turns out the cable that came with it was bad. My nephew is convinced that he got a "dud" player. Im embarrased....I had to give him my cable. Good speaker though! #unhappy #badexperience #maynotbuyagain

We're using this in my son's room for when he goes to sleep at night. He also likes to use it as a toy. It's holding up just fine. We use the mini sd card to put music on it which is easy. The only thing that is a nuisance is volume control. I turn it down to as quiet as it can go (bedtime right) but since you just hold down one of the buttons it sometimes turns all the way off and then it's a little game getting it to the right volume. And it always turns on full volume. That said, I like it and my son who doesn't have to deal with the volume loves it.

I access most of my TV programs, movies, and music on my laptop and Kindle. My laptop and Kindle audio are greatly enhanced by this simple-to-use, small, nice-looking, portable amplifier. I have tried two other speaker amplifiers in the past in this low price range, and they didn't hold up -- the connectors and USB cords were fragile. Plus, the sound quality was not as good. This one is nicer and seems to be holding up. Great value.

little tricky figuring it out instructions were really small to go along with the small player all in all get it to work radio and memory stick loaded from computer, pretty loud for something so small...

My son's ancient CD player that he listens to music on every night for bedtime recently broke, and I needed to replace it. I was looking for something small so it would fit on a cramped desk and I didn't want to spend a lot. It's hard to find a good, simple, small, cheap CD player these days so I went looking for MP3 players with speakers and USB stick support instead.This little device *perfectly* fit the bill. It came pre-charged, I plugged in a USB stick with some MP3s (and WMAs) on it and immediately started playing. I am not an audiophile, but to my ears the sound quality is just fine. For $15 with free shipping thanks to Amazon Prime you really can't go wrong.

I thought I could connect a USB drive with music on it to play, but the USB slot is apparently only to hook up other devices. I'm now having to buy a mini sd card just to play music on it without hooking up my iPhone. Annoying!

Bought this months ago. It went overseas, and back to the U.S. Still works great. Loud, not too bassy, which is disappointing. But it comes with an equalizer, which I never bothered to tweak, so it may have more bass to it than what I've experienced. It also gets FM radio with really good reception. I would buy this again, although there is one with bluetooth.
