Nikwax BaseFresh Deodorizing Laundry Additive

I am a fan of Nikwax products for cleaning our technical clothing. This is my first time to try out the Base Fresh. So far, I am satisfied. My son often comes home from his soccer games smelling so badly that I have to wash his jersey and socks immediately. I had been experimenting with the Nikwax Base Wash followed by white vinegar rinse. This was working on most of his clothes, and did leave a bit of the vinegar aroma after.This seems to be helping with the residual odor.As far as the conditioning s concerned, I'm not sure that there is a significant difference. We NEVER use any fabric softeners on our moisture wicking clothing, We hang a lot of these items rather than drying in the dryer.If there is a significant change in my opinion, I will update this review. For now, the jury is out ... I have not decided to reorder. Seems a little pricey, too.

This stuff actually works. If you have wicking fabrics (TechWick, bike jerseys, etc) that have acquired that trait of smelling like you haven't washed them in weeks within an hour of just putting them on and working out, this stuff will fix that problem. It's not a perfume cover up. It apparently gets rid of the coating that builds up on the fibers that laundry detergents deposit, even when not using a fabric softener. I've successfully resurrected several older shirts using this product. The oldest shirts required more than one washing. I now use it for all my bike clothes every time, in an amount less than the manufacturer states. I deducted one star because it is too expensive.

I teach skiing in the winter and in my free-time and skiing or hiking. I invested a lot in good baselayers and underwear and I use Nikwax to keep them clean and smelling good while, hopefully, extending their life.If you just put a bit in your machine's fabric softener dispenser with the wash then it will leave them with a clean smell without possibly harming the fabric like fabric softener may.

This really worked well for me. I'm an avid athlete and use a ton of wool and synthetic base layers. Many of them seemed permanently stinky, no matter how many times I washed them. This stuff made a huge impact - my synthetics now have a mild citrus smell, rather than BO. I swear by this stuff now; it made such a difference

This is absolutely the best product I have found to COMPLETELY remove offensive odors from clothing and towels. A little goes a long way. Both sports smells and sour laundry smells are usually eliminated in the first wash, certainly by the second. And they don't come back. Regular fabric softener can't be used on sports clothing anyway, but when used on towels it just eliminates the smell at the time. Once towels are damp again, the sour smell creeps back in. Love love love this stuff, and though it is pricey, it delivers.

Lovely scent but I have no idea if it does what it says it does. I can't use typical fabric softener with so much of my clothing so I use this and feel safe that i'm not ruining my wool socks or "No Fab Softener" close to the body whicking clothing. However, it is very difficult to rinse out of HE washed and rinsed clothing (as is everything in my useless Electrolux machines) so I do extra rinses just to be sure. NOTE: I use about 90% less than NikWax recommends.

Love this fabric conditioner! I also use Nikwax's Basewash on my baselayers, so I usually just use this product on next-to-skin loads that aren't all baselayers. I use it in a downy ball with my normal (mildly scented) detergent and the clothes come out smelling great! My favorite part is that the scent isn't overwhelming, but when you're at the height of a workout, your clothes actually smell fresh, not stinky.

I've never been a fan of fabric softener but I like this stuff. Be aware that a little goes a long way- start out with small amounts to see how you (and people around you) can deal with the scent.

Works well with Base Wash in removing the smell from water wicking athletic wear.
