4 year old loves it
I needed something that won't spill in my car but doesn't have a straw - who wants to clean those?? This is perfect. It even has the metal "lock" which to me is the bombb. It is a little tough for him to close it fully but I don't hate that.

Nalgene is the Best!
No brand beats Nalgene in durability and quality! My oldest child had the 12oz sippy top for 3+ years. My wife and I have this same design in a 24oz volume for 5 years, before that I had the original 32oz screw on lid design. The 12oz sippy top is going to our youngest child when they stop drinking so much milk, I've never put anything but water in a Nalgene. The only failure was the original 32oz lid fell onto the dishwasher heating element and melting. I see people get new brands every 6months and they don't last, on to the next fad. Nalgene lives on with only cosmetic scuffs over the years. My only complaint is they stopped screen printing their logo onto the cup, it's only molded into the top, why hide a quality brand?

Leakproof, squat, cute, works.
Bought this to fit in my purse (downsizing from the larger Nalgene of this style). Cute, very leakproof if you make sure you’ve got that latch locked—but ultimately a bit too heavy for something that holds minimal ounces. Still searching for something sleek but easy to clean.

Good buy.
This bottle is my favorite bottle of all the ones Ive bought previously, mainly as it has few parts and is easy to wash..I dont need any special brushes to wash it and can use it for juice or other beverages without worrying about noy being able to clean it properly . Also I love that the mouth can be covered once not in use to minimise exposure to germs. It has 2 closure mechanisms to prevent spills. My 3 yr old has been using it for about 6 months now with no problems. I bought 2.

the latch isn't very good.
it's really tiny! I know I should have known with the ounces, but it just didn't look as tiny in the pictures I guess. my bad so no points off for that, but just a notice. my son likes it, but he is 8 and could have used a slightly bigger one. I am also not expecting it to last very long as the clasp is all plastic! it barely latches as it is! luckily there is a metal hook to secure it, but who knows how often he is going to remember to do that, and how many wet backpacks we are going to go through. hoping it lasts through this year. wont be buying this again though. not happy with it.

Great bottle for older toddlers
I have three of these bottles. My four year old is very good with opening and closing the bottle. It takes some effort but after you do it a while, you get used to it and it actually helps build a little more muscle/develops their motor skills. We previously used the contigo toddler bottle which is ok but it develops mold in hard to reach areas. Once they are a little older, I like to transition to this bottle because then they can drink more water with less effort.I had no idea how to take out the silicone from the cap but found out you can do this by using the end of the spoon or butter knife. Then once it is out, you can clean it. Well one cap developed black mold and I didn't know till it was too late. I emailed Nalgene from their website and they are planning to send new caps in 2 weeks. What great service.

Absolutely leak proof
My son would come home everyday with a soaked backpack from a leaky water bottle but not since I purchased this beauty! It is durable and easy to clean! The size is great for my 7th grader and it’s easy to open and easy to lock and it Stays locked!

Huge Design Flaw! Attached top becomes too top heavy and cup constantly spills.
UPDATE 1 STAR August 2017: These bottles are even worse than I realized at first. Huge design flaw! The top leans to the side and when the liquid gets 1/4th of the way down (when your child drinks a good amount of their drink), the bottle becomes too top heavy and the cup spills! So frustrating! Completely defeats the purpose. I love the Nalgene regular bottles and use mine constantly. But these -- do not purchase. They are just a source of frustration.ORIGINAL REVIEW 2 STARSThese Nalgene OTF kids bottles are hit or miss. I bought 2. One of them works great, the other is very very hard to latch. Adults struggle with it, so imagine a 5YO boy! He has to press down very hard on the top to get it closed enough to move the metal latch on top. It's definitely frustrating and I would not recommend.
