Because you never know....( which fire starter one you're going to get )
I bought a couple of these fire starters last July....loved them and wrote a glowing review of them at that time.....probably still on this website in the reviews section. I wanted to get a couple more of these recently, but wanted the SAME product....so I looked up my old order and opted for the buy it again option. I was redirected to this item with a different seller, but about the same price so I order a couple. Well, these new ones are half the size and much less "beefy" than my first ones! I seem to recall a few reviews mentioning this the first time I ordered, but you've always got a few nutty reviews with every product that just can't be satisfied. Well, I now see what they were talking about! I may still return these two because I fear they will be easy to break during use as they don't have anything backing up the magnesium shaft to support while striking....we'll see. These are GREAT if you get the full size version, but they SUCK if you get the minuture version!

Works well
I bought this just to see if it works as well as my $6 farro rod and to my surprise it works better! It did take two weeks to get here. This one gives off more sparks than the more expensive one I have which makes it easier to start a fire. I did start a fire in my backyard after using really dry dead grass I found behind my garage. I was then able to keep the fire going for a good hour before I had to put it out as it was getting dark. This is a good product but I would not depend your whole life on it unless you have to. I just keep it as a backup fire starter.

fits in the aitor jungle king knockoffs
the handle on mine was loose, so i thought about epoxying it back when i remembered that aitor has a small mag block/ferro rod in the accessories. i took my ko out, and adjusted my case to accept this. i used the skinner from the knife kit (stainless) to throw sparks. for some reason, i was under the impression that it had to be a high carbon blade that you scrape the rod with.
