Well made
Well made resistor. Arrived in short order and installed in 20 min. Worked well. Solved my problem. The last one lasted over 15 years.

Works fine
Fitted this along with the Mallory e-spark ignition kit, as the original resistor was junk.Have had no problems with the ignition system since fitting 6 months ago.Have since seen other standard replacement resistors for around half the price of the Mallory 700 which I believe would work just as well with the e-spark and my otherwise stock engine, which is the only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars. Can't fault it as I've had no issues with it, probably worth the extra if your running a modified vehicle?

no problems!
Used in conjunction with a mechanical advance Mallory distributor on a 92 Chevy S10 2.8 V6 that has been built into a 3.2 with a blower for a hot rod. Good product!

Ballast resistor
I purchased this as a just in case item. That is just in case my CDI box dies, I can tie this ballast resistor into my coil connectors (low resistance coil) and have the proper amount of resistance to run points on my distributor without a CDI box. It appears to be well made and durable.

You Really may not need
It took me a while to get back to work on the motor this is on and after a week of trying to figure out why in the heck it kept missing I gave up and called Mallory tech support. The instructions for my Unilite distributor say I have to use this ballast to prevent burning up my coil.Talking with tech support today they told me when using a Mallory 29219 coil you do NOT NEED THIS RESISTOR. I removed it and now the motor runs smooth. This is really sorry of Mallory to say in the directions that I needed this, I Got everything to finish the build except this resistor, read the directions THEN ordered it and waited for it to arrive and now finding out THIS resistor was the cause for the week headache of why the motor was missing and would not start when cold. Wish I had called Monday, now I am past my return allowance.

First one burned out.
The first one burned out after 10 years of use, maybe 25,000 miles on my 1927 T roadster. So I bought an identical replacement. Appears to be build very well, but I question any ballast resistor that burns out, because I would think these should last a lifetime???
